Uterine Cancer

Uterine cancer is the most common type of the female reproductive system. It is largely classified into: Endometrioid adenocarcinoma, serous adenocarcinoma, carcinosarcoma and adenosquamous carcinoma. Endometrial cancer originates in the lining of the uterus and accounts for over 90% of cases. Most cancers begin in the cells lining the uterus (endometrium) and rarer forms develop within the muscle of the uterine wall (uterine sarcoma).

Common symptoms include:

The primary treatment is surgery, which may be performed as open surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopy, or robotic surgery. The gynecologist determines whether chemotherapy or radiation is necessary and to what extent.
